That’s right. My family is famous! Ok, maybe not, but two members of my family were shown briefly on the news this week. Last Sunday my mom was on the news when KATU did a segment on the record turnout for the Portland Race for the Cure. As I mentioned, my mom and sister participated. And when the news crew panned the racers, there was my mom with her little pink ribbon sticker on her cheek.
Then last night we got a call that the girls’ cheerleading teams were invited to come cheer at a big game. This was somewhat last minute so we scrambled to get Melissa’s uniform ready and off we headed to the big stadium. The senior varsity cheerleading team for Kevin’s high school were there ready to teach the little girls some cheers. Then when it was game time they got to participate in everything the big girls normally do. From running out to the field to welcome the football team to cheerleading the whole first half. And let me tell you, it was freaking adorable to watch these girls cheer with the “pros”.
It was an awesome opportunity for the younger/newer cheerleaders and I think Melissa had a blast.
KOIN did a segment on “HHS Spirit” and aired the girls doing a cheer during halftime. If you were watching the 11:00 Channel 6 News last night, you would have caught a couple glimpses of Melissa. If you didn’t catch her, here’s a small video I made earlier in the night:
